Multi-Hazard Structural and Non-Structural Evaluation of Selected Hospitals and Health Facilities (BEHTAB)
Description:
In line with the sustainable development goals (SDG) and Sendai framework (SF), the BEHTAB project was funded by the Japanese government to increase the resilience of the health facilities.
In this regard, UN-Habitat mobilized a project for Iranian hospitals. This assignment was done based on the City Resilience Profiling Tool (CRPT) developed by UNISDR.
To improve the resilience of healthcare facilities, the BEHTAB project employed a holistic approach that embraces various dimensions of the design of Health facilities. This includes:
- Multi-hazard analysis
- Rapid visual assessment (RVA)
- Detailed structural assessment and retrofit
- Non-structural assessment and retrofit
- Functional analysis of existing
- Urban scale analysis
- Preparing investment plans
Provided Services:
- Rapid Visual Assessment (RVA) of 600,000 sqm. Hospitals (75 hospitals) and 50,000 sq. m. Health Care Centers (approximately 100 Health Care Centers)
- Preliminary Engineering Assessment (PEA) of 160,000 sqm. hospitals (20 hospitals) and 22,500 sqm. Health Care Centers (45 Health Care Centers)
- Detailed Engineering Analysis (DEA) of 160,000 sqm. hospitals (20 hospitals) and 22,500 sqm. Health Care Centers (45 Health Care Centers)
- Concluding field data and preparing a list of requirements to continue the study
- Controlling structures based on the Iranian Seismic Code
- Determining performance objectives, existing performance, and hazard levels
- Modelling and analysis of the structures
- Cost-benefit analysis of recommended actions
- Preparation of bills of Quantities and Tender documentation
Main Deliverables:
- Vulnerability and risk assessment for several hospitals and health centers
- Detailed Engineering analysis for a selected number of hospitals and health centers selected according to the results
- Development of retrofitting designs, architectural upgrading and Energy Efficiency Design
- Non-structural evaluation for hospitals and health centers
- Urban resilience analysis
